Question 1. Can you describe your business?
Green Cloud Computers are an IT managed services and solutions company with a difference.
Most companies these days are too busy to look after their IT infrastructures running costs.
We will help take the hassle away from your IT issues so you can focus on what matters to you.
Unlike other IT companies, we get to know each client and their business personally. We will help you save money on your IT, so you have more in your pocket and in doing so help the environment too.
Our motto is Gr€€ner for you and Your Environment, so our main objectives are to provide our clients with green, energy efficient IT solutions, which will save our clients' money and help the environment simultaneously by significantly reducing the amount of power consumed by their IT equipment. we will help you save money on your IT, so you have more in your pocket.
We achieve this by offering energy efficient IT equipment across the board, from file servers to PC's, network equipment to cloud services.
We recently saved one of our customers, a 15- person company, €4,000 per year in power by implementing a green IT solution which comprised of overhauling their entire infrastructure.
They had a large power hungry server, which hosted their files, email and several other vital business functions. They also had and IP phone system with numerous handsets.
In order to reduce their annual power bill, we replaced their power hungry file server with a powerful but still very low power consuming NAS (Network Attached Storage) server. We moved their email services, business databases and CRM to cloud-based providers. Lastly, their phone system once again was moved to a cloud-based provider.
By utilising the many cloud services available currently and a more power efficient server, the employee desktop PC's do not have to be as powerful to run all their daily applications, therefore they are low power consuming.
It also means that there is no longer a need for their phone handsets. Their PC's are now their telephone handset, which is made possible by using a piece of cloud-based software.
Just imagine how much money Green Cloud Computers could save you and your company!
Question 2. What are the advantages of being located in Ashbourne?
We have been located in Ashbourne since our founding in 2010. While David McLaughlin our CEO/CGO (Chief Green Officer) is Ashbourne born and bred, the town has many benefits and advantages.
Being just north of Dublin, with a great road infrastructure and fast fibre broadband, we can respond to our clients queries in a very timely manner.
Ashbourne is also a fine locations when it comes to meeting prospective clients with a fine selection of restaurants and coffee shops to discuss business ideas and solutions.
David for over 20 years has been an active member of Ashbourne Golf Club, a maturing parkland course designed by Ryder Cup star Des Smyth, it is a great opportunity to mix business with pleasure, bringing clients out for a casual game of golf and to enjoy good cuisine in the clubhouse after. Again, great for business.
Question 3. Why do your customers choose to do business with you?
From speaking to our clients and through many testimonials, we often hear that we are very good and experienced at what we do.
It is important for us to listen to our clients' IT needs and not treat them the same as our other clients. There is no such thing as a one system fits all service. Each clients' business is a bespoke entity, therefore, we treat their IT infrastructure and requirements personally and individually.
Other clients have said that we provide cost effective, scalable and reliable IT solutions. The interest in Green IT solutions is becoming more mainstream than when we founded our company eight years ago. Especially with EU targets set for renewable energy sources for 2020, we can help the process by offering our clients' very energy efficient and cost effective IT solutions.
Most of the business comes from referrals from other happy and loyal customers.
Question 4. How do you add value to your customers wants and needs?
Prevention is better than a cure, to coin a phrase. To ensure our clients can run their businesses smoothly and efficiently, we go the extra mile to guarantee a high level of service of all IT systems.

We are always interested in meeting new clients' that are looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
Long term, we are actively looking at ways to make the IT industry even greener. With the ever-advancing developments in green technology, we envisage in the not too distant future having the ability to run a company's IT infrastructure wholly with clean energy sources, whether it be solar or wind driven.
Question 6. Any advice for new businesses starting up?
Our advice to new start-ups would be to plan your enterprise thoroughly, and weigh up all the risks. Also, get involved in your local Chamber of Commerce and any other business networking groups to springboard your company, product and or service, getting your message out there. Also, tap into your social contacts. Myself, I have found that the local sports clubs I am involved with are an invaluable source for meeting prospective clients, both directly and indirectly.
Lastly, make sure you have researched our business product/service thoroughly and your competition.
Question 7. Any recommendations on how to improve Ashbourne Chamber of Commerce?
Chamber is doing a great job - perhaps targeting all those new shops - takeaways, Dental Services and other Professional services, accountants and solicitors that have set up in Ashbourne of late.
With the multitude of businesses in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas, it is a shame that there is not more engagement and participation from other companies in the locality. Many say that they have other interest or not enough time to get involved. However, they are missing out on meeting plenty of potential lucrative business opportunities.
Currently, it is the same faces so to speak that are involved and that participate in Chamber Events. For the Chamber to survive and flourish, and each of the businesses likewise, it is imperative that more companies get involved.
